Session 12

Moved all summative eval stuff to 12 since we didn't get to that in 11

Big Question: How do you see yourself using Big6 in the coming year??

Session 11

Added Portage WI Big6 sample projects - these are richly developed project plans - may need to move this up in the list so people have ideas??? Maybe not...pretty well received in session 11

Publisher went well - could do more with that besides tent-fold

Google page Creator bombed!!! Network issues!!! Drop webpage creation and look into using wikispaces

Finished with project work

Session 10

del.icio.us - took lots of time with concept and all. Worthwhile....

Also gave project time...given half hour not at end of sessions for work . That's been helpful.

Session 9

NEwsbank page needs a bit of hands-on time - have people work in pairs to identify other synthesis ideas they might use - don't explain the Newsbank - let them discover

Creating a Powerpoint went well - something you know about for content -

Added articles about effective powerpoint and retrieving graphics from Net.

Session 8

Added Bubbl.us - tried note-taking on Assessing ICT Lit article
Some trouble with Bubbl - still kind of BETA - but resolved later and useful tool

PPT stuff went well with notetaking

Citation Maker - NEXT TIME: have people create Works Cited using real sources from library along with web stuff

Session 7

Added Subject Directory stuff since we didn't get to it last time.

Added a task to graphic organizers: find 2 and show how you would use them with YOUR students. roundtable followup

Involve teachers in discussion of notetaking for their kids' levels - go beyond Trash-N-
Treasure esp for HS teachers

Have everyone try electronic notetaking with Assessing ICT article if time

Session 6 - L & A II

Included project work at the beginning - good 45 minute productive time. Worked well.
Bogus websites went well as always.
People need lots of time discussing website evaluation

**added
*new* Tips for Evaluating Sources - from Diana Hacker's "Research and Documentation" site - AFTER class - did not use this yet but it looks useful

Added brainstorm activity for evaluating web pages before teaching criteria. Goal is to tease out criteria for web page eval from "common sense"

Deleted link to Marvel etc. - Everybody's good with that.
Added Wikipedia as a research source - didn't get to having everyone research Wikipedia - group conversation only

Eliminated text work on Ch. 8
Change blog prompt to journaling.
Deleted subject directory page at www.learnwebskills.com
Dropped breakout on tables in Word - added option for setting up a wiki
